Reginald's Homemade named one of 10 Best at 2013 Fancy Food Show

This week, we were honored to learn that Shape's Keri Gans named Reginald's Homemade one of the 10 Best Snacks at the 2013 Fancy Food Show in New York. Here's what she wrote about our nut butters:

"This peanut butter definitely tastes homemade. It only has two ingredients: peanuts and peanut oil. Absolutely no salt has been added, which is hard to find in a peanut butter. One serving of 2 tablespoons provides 180 calories, 15g fat (only 2g saturated), 7g protein, and 0mg sodium. It comes in a variety of flavors, but for me there is nothing better than plain crunchy."

Peanut Butter that Tastes Like...Well, Peanuts

4:30 PM / AUGUST 28, 2012
POSTED BY Danielle Walsh
Does that jar of peanut butter sitting on your shelf really taste like peanuts? The one you got at the supermarket? No, it doesn't. It's got a somewhat nutty taste, but most of the flavor is masked by SO MUCH SUGAR. Oh, harsh. Our spirits were lifted when Reginald's Homemade Peanut Butter crossed our desks, dazzling us with its sole two ingredients: Virginia peanuts and peanut oil. And you know what that means? It tastes like peanuts. So yeah, we're into it.
BONUS! Bonappetit.com readers get 15% off the total order from the Reginald's website with the code BonAppetit15 for one month starting today. Our advice? Stock up.

Spiked Peanut Butter, Now a Thing

Peanut butter tends to be delicious. It’s just the nature of the stuff. Particularly when it tastes like Bourbon Pecan and Double Chocolate Chunk. And turns out, an online peanut-butter-specific shop called Reginald’s Homemade has those things. They also have “I [jar of peanut butter] PB” T-shirts. So...

42. Reginald’s Homemade Cashewnilla Butter As a connoisseur of nut butters, I tried this version and realized what was missing in my life. The cashews are mixed with just enough vanilla to highlight their sweetness and just enough peanut oil to make it easily spreadable without the constant mixing of most natural nut butters. No sugars added, just all-natural goodness. —JB reginaldshomemade.com; St. Stephen’s Farmers Market, saintstephensrichmond.net/farmersmarket

Life Changing Experience Launches New PB Company

After losing over 150 pounds by changing his eating habits, Andrew Broocker discovered a love for peanut butter along the way. His newfound love transformed into the launch of a peanut butter line called Reginald’s Homemade in May of 2011.
Reginald’s Homemade is an all-natural line of peanut butter with traditional and non-traditional flavors.  While many peanut butters are made with runner-type peanuts, Reginald’s Homemade uses its home state’s namesake, Virginia-type peanuts, in its products. “I feel fortunate to have grown up in Virginia because it’s home to a great peanut. With farms only 90 minutes away from my home, it was a natural choice for us to choose the Virginia peanut,” said company founder Broocker. Part of what makes Reginald’s Homemade a standout is its flavor variety—from original to Apple Sin, Nana Honey, Double Chocolate Chunk, and White Chocolate. Each bite of Reginald’s Homemade has the just-right amount of natural flavoring that never overpowers the true peanut taste.
The company is always open to testing new flavors. “Peanut butter is one of my favorite foods, and I’m just grateful that I’m able to marry my passion with a business. Peanuts are so versatile, but my personal favorite way to enjoy them has always been peanut butter. I love how peanut butter is delicious on its own and even better when you kick it up with complimentary and unique flavors,” said Broocker. Reginald’s Homemade was recently featured in Shape magazine as a great new snack to try. You can find Reginald’s Homemade online at www.reginaldshomemade.com or at various retailers throughout Virginia in Richmond, Charlottesville and Williamsburg, and in Fresh Markets in Rockville, Md.

Work It, Richmond

Jacob Geiger and Work It, Richmond were nice enough to profile us in today's newsletter. A small sample of the article is below. To read the full piece, please click here. Enjoy!

February 13, 2012 | Jacob Geiger

Tell us the basics: Who are you, what’s your company’s name, and how long have you been at this company? My name is Andrew Broocker and I own Reginald’s Homemade. We make all-natural peanut and cashew butter that’s sold online, at local farmers’ markets and at various retailers throughout Richmond, Charlottesville, Williamsburg and now Rockville, Md. We’ve been around since May 2011.

You lost 150 pounds while deciding to live a healthier lifestyle. What led from that to starting a business focusing on peanut butter and other nut butters? I worked in the restaurant industry around Richmond for most of my adult life. I was overweight, unhealthy and unhappy. One day, I said “enough is enough” and decided to turn my life around and get fit. Over the course of a year, I lost about 150 lbs. As I got healthy, I developed a love for all-natural peanut butter. When I wasn’t satisfied with the options on the shelf, I started to make my own. That’s how Reginald’s Homemade got its start.
